Messenger 11/11/22
Hello Early Childhood Families,
I hope that everyone has had a wonderful week! I have a couple of car lane safety rules that I would like to remind families of and I ask that you share these reminders with anyone who participates in our pick up and drop off procedures.
- A gentle reminder that it is against the law to use a cell phone in a school zone. Please refrain from being on your cell phone during drop off and pick up. Thank you.
- I have recently noticed a very concerning trend with children not sitting in car seats when car a moving through the car line. Again a gentle reminder that it is against the law for children to not be in a car seat or booster when a vehicle is moving. I am sure that students are getting restless during the wait so I encourage you to keep books or other small items in the car that your student can play with during the wait. I am very afraid that a student is going to get hurt if an accident were to occur.
Thank you very much with your assistance in helping to keep our students and staff members safe.
Law Enforcement Drill
At Batavia Public Schools, our first priority is protecting the safety of students and staff. As part of this commitment, AGS students and staff will be participating in a lockdown drill on November 15th in the morning.
During this drill, the EC students are read a social story that focuses on listening to the teacher and following directions during an emergency to ensure that our students and staff are prepared for emergencies without elevating anxiety. Our approach to these drills has been carefully crafted to comply with Illinois law, be developmentally appropriate, and sensitive to the potential for undue traumatic stress. Please be assured that at no time during this drill will weapons, look-alike weapons, or scary sounds be used to simulate an incident.
We believe it is in the best interest of our student’s safety for them to participate in this school safety drill. We encourage you to visit our website to learn more about our emergency plan. Should you have questions or concerns, you may contact Josh.Bulak@bps101.net.
Thank you for your partnership in helping us keep our school safe for student learning.
The EC Lottery is open for the 23-24 school year. If you have a child who will be 3 on or before September 1st, you can use this link to sign them up for the lottery. The lottery will close on January 27th at 4 PM. If your child is currently in the EC Program, you do not need to sign them up they will be grandfathered into the program. Here is the link for Lottery Sign Up
We have had some parents asking about hearing and vision screening results. In general, this is a no news is good news situation, we do not contact you unless there was a concern, but at this point we are not contacting any family because we will do a rescreen for any students who did not pass or was absent on the original screening day. If at that point, the student does not pass then a letter will be sent home. At this time, I do not have the rescreening date, but it is usually at least 4-6 weeks after the original date.
SAVE THE DATE: Gingerbread Jamboree is coming on December 21st during your student’s school day. This is a time for a special adult or 2 (Mom, Dad, Grandma/pa, Aunt/Uncle or Baby sitter) to join their students and explore a variety of math and literacy activities that are Gingerbread related. This is meant to be a special time for your preschool student and their special adult(s) so no siblings are allowed. Infants that are worn in a carrier are fine, but no strollers please. More information will be coming as we get closer to the day.
Upcoming Dates:
Thanksgiving Break November 23rd-25th
Please feel free to reach out and contact me with any questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful weekend!
